History

Elmia's forest fairs were organized for the first time in 1977 and from the start the fair has been a success. This is not least noticeable in the number of visitors - the last fair in 2019, more than 20,000 people applied for SkogsElmia.

From the start in 1977 until the end of the 80s, all forest fairs were called Elmia Wood. The fairs had an international focus and were held every two years. After the 1989 Elmia Wood, the International Forest Fair received a four-year interval. At the same time, a Scandinavian smaller fair was established in the middle years, SkogsElmia, so that the Swedish audience was still given the opportunity to attend a forest fair every two years. SkogsElmia has today developed into a fair with mainly small-scale technology.

Elmia Wood has developed into a trade fair that takes a holistic perspective on an international forest market. The fair is an established international showcase that creates export opportunities. Elmia Wood also has a long tradition of lifting smaller companies and innovations to new world markets. We have a big heart that applauds the industry and that is why we allow both big and small innovations to take bigger and bigger place. At the same time, sustainability issues have become a matter of course at SkogsElmia.
