Meet SSAB - Ambassador for Elmia Subcontractor 2026

With a strong position in the industrial value chain and a major transformation of its steel production underway, SSAB has been appointed an ambassador for Elmia Subcontractor 2026. In this role, the company aims to contribute perspectives on competitiveness, innovation, sustainability and how industry can remain strong even as conditions change.

SSAB is a global steel producer with roots in Sweden and Finland and production also in the United States. Its steels are used across a wide range of industries, enabling customers to develop stronger, lighter and more resource-efficient products. At the same time, SSAB is investing in the sustainable steel production of the future in Sweden.

– Recent years have shown that resilience is about far more than efficient supply chains. It is also about having a strong industrial base, close customer relationships and the ability to adapt when conditions change, says Helena Norrman, EVP & Head of Group Communications at SSAB.

Transformation strengthens competitiveness

This year’s theme for Elmia Subcontractor is Resilience powered by industry. For SSAB, the long-term resilience of industry is closely linked to the ability to continue investing, developing and transforming.

A central part of this is the transformation of steel production. In 2025, SSAB delivered approximately 90,000 tonnes of SSAB Zero™ and is continuing its transition towards fossil-free steel production.

– We see the transformation as a matter of both climate and competitiveness. It strengthens our customers’ comparative advantages, reduces dependence on imported coal and contributes to a more resilient European industry, says Helena Norrman.

A strong industry is built together

Close collaboration throughout the value chain is also an important part of SSAB’s innovation work. By combining its own materials expertise with customers’ application expertise, solutions can be developed that reduce weight, improve performance and use resources more efficiently.

This is also one reason why SSAB sees Elmia Subcontractor as an important meeting place.

– Elmia Subcontractor is one of the Nordic region’s most important meeting places for the manufacturing industry and the entire industrial value chain. As an ambassador, we look forward to contributing our perspectives on competitiveness, innovation, resilience and industrial transformation, but also to meeting customers, partners and other stakeholders who are shaping the future of industry together, concludes Helena Norrman.
