Longer lead times for rare earth elements and how HYAB handles it for your business

Longer lead times for rare earth elements and how HYAB handles it for your business
Over the past few months, the delivery disruptions caused by China’s export restrictions on rare earth elements have stabilized as companies have learned to navigate the new situation. However, extensive inspections at China’s various export ports have resulted in longer lead times, affecting virtually all magnetic materials.

Currently, the requirements apply to all magnets containing rare earth elements, primarily Samarium and some Neodymium magnets. Specifically, HYAB must, in connection with orders for these magnets, apply for an export license containing information about the end customer and the final use of the material.

These are the current requirements, and we assess that the export restrictions are here to stay. Unfortunately, this impacts deliveries of all magnets – even those not covered by the restrictions – as they are delayed in customs inspection queues.

At HYAB, we work continuously with our manufacturers and conduct frequent follow-ups to ensure we have the most accurate and up-to-date information. We also work closely with our customers to manage the export license process where required. As these restrictions are expected to remain, it is of great importance to keep stock of critical magnetic components and materials here in Sweden, and for our customers to plan for longer lead times.

HYAB is at the forefront of managing the current situation, dedicating significant resources to remain a reliable and efficient supplier of magnetic components, materials, and products to your business. We therefore kindly ask you to keep the current situation – and the resulting longer lead times – in mind.
