The future of industry is shaped at Elmia Subcontractor

The future of industry is shaped at Elmia Subcontractor
Smart Industry. Sustainability. Collaboration and Expertise. At Elmia Subcontractor 2021, companies will be staking out the way ahead for the Swedish manufacturing industry. All under four main themes, turning challenges into opportunities at industry’s strongest arena.

Elmia Subcontractor is where business is born – this year perhaps more than ever. This is where the manufacturing industry tackles the biggest future challenges and highlights the opportunities that exist in the sector. Whether it’s connected products that talk to each other, or the field of sustainability and circular business models.

The challenges are gathered under four themes: Smart Industry, Sustainability, Expertise and Collaboration. These themes permeate the entire arena, from the exhibitor stands, into the digital programme, and on to the innovative cases at Subcontractor TechArena and Subcontractor InnoDex.

For Lesjöfors, one of this year’s Ambassadors, sustainability is a high-priority area, and the group works actively on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. BioLPG, green electricity and circular flows are some of the aspects of the company’s strategy.

“Our work on sustainability brings added value for us as a supplier. Looking at our entire value chain, we can easily see how our investments pay off. If we can offer our customers a sustainable alternative while also getting better paid, it’s clear that sustainability and business go hand in hand,” says Ola Tengroth, CEO at Lesjöfors.

This year, the spotlight will be on the exhibitors during the four-day trade show. In the digital programme we’ll be taking the pulse of the exhibition floor, and showcasing innovation in Swedish manufacturing by visiting a number of exhibitors at their stands.

It also includes a more in-depth panel discussion on the future of the industry. Participants include Sweden’s Minister for Energy and Digital Development Anders Ygeman, the Swedish Industry Association, automotive component group FKG, and above all our Ambassadors. They will all be discussing what the playing field will look like post-Covid.

This means that the programme is just the catalyst the industry needs to help us stake out a common path into the future.

“Technology and its potential are evolving on a daily basis, so it’s vital to stay as well-informed as possible. Looking at our sector alone, few people know just how far 3D printing technology has come, and therefore may not think of it as the perfectly valid method of mass production it is. Only through efficient production opportunities and innovative technology can the Swedish manufacturing industry meet the demands of the future,” says Jan Löfving, CEO of Prototal, one of the Ambassadors for Elmia Subcontractor 2021.
