Last year, the Subcontractor Connect matchmaking event took place both digitally and face-to-face – a flexible combination appreciated by suppliers and buyers alike. Subcontractor Connect is, after all, fundamentally about new business, regardless of the meeting format.
Almost 100 suppliers, 50 buyers and a total of 190 participants from 28 countries at last year’s Subcontractor Connect. One of the many people taking part was Fredrik Larsson, Purchasing Manager at Koenigsegg, who had ten meetings booked on one day.
“As a buyer, it’s nice to have everything served on a platter rather than having to look for suppliers. We were at the matchmaking event one day, and one day we spent at the fair just to look for pretty much everything a car contains,” he says.
Fredrik finds Subcontractor Connect well organised and professional, with a lot of attention paid to creating a pleasant environment. But at the end of the day it’s about doing business, and here too he gives a thumbs-up, mainly because the meetings are quick and efficient.
“You get 30 minutes and that’s it. What doesn’t get said in 30 minutes doesn’t get said in an hour either. We’ve found five suppliers of interest, and even if we just do business with one of them in a year’s time we’ll be happy,” says Fredrik.
Subcontractor Connect is organised by Enterprise Europe Network, alongside Elmia Subcontractor. This year there were more opportunities than ever to find new business partners, as both digital and face-to-face meetings could be booked.
“We’ve had a very positive response this year, and being able to combine digital with IRL is perfect in these times. The participants appreciate the flexibility, and we can also see that our digital platform works as a kind of meeting-place in itself, where participants integrate with each other,” says Therése Carlbrant of Enterprise Europe Network.
Most of the participants were of course from Sweden, but virtually the whole of Europe was represented, as well as a couple of other countries. Finland, our neighbour to the east, had five participants registered, including Turkka Laakkio, co-owner of NoLimits.
NoLimits is a joint venture company owned by RCP Software and Defour.
“This was the first time we’ve ever marketed this brand, and we made many new contacts. We’re already familiar with the Finnish market, and by exhibiting at Elmia Subcontractor and taking part in Subcontractor Connect we hope to be able to move into Sweden as well,” says Turkka.
