More than just rivets – the cold forming experts expand

More than just rivets – the cold forming experts expand
They were there when Elmia Subcontractor opened its doors for the very first time in 1975. This year, Värnamo-based Nominit is presenting a wider range than ever before.

- The trade fair has become a regular event for us, creating important value for our customer relationships, says Ali Wikingsson Baloch, Sales Manager.

Here on the exhibition floor, Nominit is also taking the opportunity to present the changes it has made to its product range.

- We have broadened our range of C-parts with a greater focus on sourced components. We are no longer just a cold forming company, but can also offer nuts, washers and other standard items, says Ali.

Cost-effective and sustainable

At the same time, cold forming remains at the heart of the business. As a Swedish subcontractor with its own production facility in Värnamo, the company cold forms components and rivets in all kinds of materials, from brass, steel and aluminium to copper and stainless steel. This manufacturing method offers major advantages in terms of cost efficiency, resource efficiency and sustainability.

- Compared to turning, you get significantly less material waste. With cold forming, you use 98.5 per cent of the material and at the same time achieve unique properties through the hardness that occurs when you press the part,’ says Ali.

The bronze medal from EcoVadis is a fine acknowledgement of the broad sustainability work that Nominit does, says Ali.

- We are also proud of our IATF certification.

From Värnamo to the entire world

Of course, there are also challenges for the industry. Above all, it's about the global situation.

- We are a global company. 70 per cent of our sales are exported worldwide from little Värnamo, and we are proud of that. At the same time, you never know when new tariffs will be imposed, Ali notes.

However, the trend of bringing production back home is creating opportunities for Nominit:
- We have customers who specifically request Swedish-made products. And we are seeing slightly better flows in general. Despite the market situation and economic climate, we have had good growth, so we hope that we have put the recession behind us, says Ali Wikingsson Baloch.
