New stage for Scandinavia’s furniture and interior design suppliers

Sweden’s biggest industry event, Elmia Subcontractor, offers the furniture and interior design industry its own arena – Interior Competence & Components (ICC). The arena will make the industry’s suppliers more visible to a broader market and create opportunities for cross-pollination and development.

Jönköping lies at the heart of one of Europe’s leading furniture-producing regions with a deep-rooted tradition of superb craftsmanship. The manufacturers are constantly on the lookout for new, creative solutions, so it is critical that their suppliers stand out from the crowd. With its new ICC arena, Elmia Subcontractor fills what was an empty space in the furniture and interior design industry, which has long lacked its own arena where subcontractors can exhibit their collective expertise. The ICC arena was first introduced in 2016 and the development of the concept is always moving forward.

“We’re constantly discussing with industry representatives how we can develop the fair together with industry,” explains Karla Eklund, Project Manager at Elmia Subcontractor. “Elmia Subcontractor is the right place to showcase the furniture industry’s suppliers to a broader market. It’s a win-win for both the buyers and suppliers thanks to the business opportunities that are created for the participating companies.”

ICC is one concrete result of this dialogue with the industry and has been well anchored with leading furniture manufacturers right from the concept stage.

“We want to have an arena for everyone in the furniture industry, where we manufacturers can find innovative and competitive suppliers and they get the chance to broaden their market,” explains Thomas Wilsson, Purchasing Director at Kinnarps and board member of Interior Cluster Sweden. “In order to keep developing, the industry needs strong and important subcontractors. And since Elmia Subcontractor is one of the most important fairs to visit for so many purchasers from different sectors, it’s totally the right forum.”

The exhibiting subcontractors at ICC include WOG and Sykkylven Stål.

“Exhibiting at ICC was really worth the investment! New customers and new opportunities. My hope is to see even more exhibitors and a development of the concept in 2017.”

– Anders Rittfelt, Marketing Manager at WOG.

“We got some exciting leads at our stand in 2016 and will absolutely participate again in 2017. The shared arena makes us more interesting and visible to visitors.”

– Inger Brunstad Sjöli, Marketing Manager at Sykkylven Stål.
