More important than ever to network on the exhibition floor

With operations in six countries and Sweden as its primary market, steel supplier BE Group sees Elmia Subcontractor as an important place for customer meetings.

“We’ve been exhibiting here for many years. Elmia Subcontractor is an ideal meeting-place for us since we have a wide range and the fair reaches a lot of customers in the subcontractor stage,” says Jens Karlsson, Marketing Manager at BE Group Sweden.

Relationship building is vital
Mr. Karlsson believes that meeting and networking are more important than ever as talk of a weakening economy increases.

“We use our stand to show our wide range of steel, stainless steel and aluminium, giving visitors an opportunity to meet representatives from our sales offices across Sweden. For us, Elmia Subcontractor is very much about building relationships, a chance to talk about products and production from a broad perspective,” Mr. Karlsson explains.

Their own barista – and Heavy Metal
Having their own barista at the fair stand is of course a real advantage; coffee is vital when talking business.

“A lot of people do take the chance to stop a while and have a chat. It’s like a watering-hole for our customers,” says Jens Karlsson.

Another good way of standing out from the crowd and attracting visitors is to focus on the company’s history.

“We’ve been working with steel and metal for more than 130 years, and we’ll be running a few events and competitions on the theme of ‘Heavy Metal since 1885’.”

New production facility in Norrköping
One piece of news BE Group is presenting in more detail for customers during this year’s Elmia Subcontractor is the new production facility now emerging at its main plant in Norrköping.

“We made the decision during the summer and will now be talking about what we can offer moving forward in terms of cutting, drilling, milling, blasting and painting of long steel products such as beams, rods, pipes and profiles,” says Mr. Karlsson.

Refinement broadens the range
As a supplier of steel, refinement is an important service in expanding the customer offering.

“We see high potential and greater customer benefit in offering steel rods cut to the right lengths, for example.”

The publicly listed BE Group has approximately 700 employees in six European countries, and had a turnover of SEK 4.8 billion last year. In Sweden, its primary market, the Group has sales offices in Malmö, Gothenburg, Jönköping, Norrköping, Stockholm, Sundsvall, Karlstad and Borlänge.
