Everything is possible for Emmelie, the wood chip truck driver

Emmelie is a horse-mad youngster who became a truck driver, following the family tradition. She feels at home in the trucking industry and says it’s a good place to work.

Emmelie Lagergren Borg from the town of Eksjö in Småland is 24 years old and grew up in a family of hauliers. She trained to be a truck driver at the TTC centre in Jönköping. Today she drives a side-tipping wood chip truck, the Volvo FH540. She has always been interested in vehicles.

“My dad picked me up from school in all sorts of vehicles, usually wheel loaders,” she says with a smile.

In her spare time she rides a lot and her work with horses has given her a strong sense of responsibility and self-confidence.

“I have my dad to thank for a lot – he’s always been a strong influence on me and a role model. When I was small and fell over, I had to pick myself up and keep going. That’s made me a strong and fearless person. I was never given the princess treatment and I’m glad for that,” she says.

Everything is possible for Emmelie and she is happy with her choice of career.

“The best thing about the industry is that there are so many opportunities for growth, as new, innovative solutions are constantly being found. I would say it’s an attractive industry to be in, whatever your gender,” she concludes.
