SkogsElmia starts with a bang (literally)

Thursday 6 June marks the start of the Nordic region’s biggest forestry fair. The theme is tomorrow’s forest ownership. More than 300 exhibitors from 21 countries are on the spot. There will be sweaty competitions, prestigious award presentations and new products and services from many exhibitors.

We start on 6 June at about 08.45 when Jönköping County Governor Helena Jonsson makes an opening speech and the historical re-enactment group Smålands Karoliner fires a cannon salute.

SkogsElmia presents the Innovation Award to recipients who have made a major difference to development in the forest industry. The ceremony will be held on 6 June at 13.00 in the Event Tent.

On top of this, the fair is packed with goodies for everyone. Exhibitors are presenting the best and the latest at their stands. Experts are sharing their knowledge in mini-seminars. Sawmills and chippers will be blasting away and chainsaws roaring. Forest machines will be demonstrated in action outdoors among the trees and indoors on simulators. Drones and mobile phones will show high-tech fans what the latest technology can offer the forest industry. Dogs will be sniffing out bark beetles and the emergency response services will show how to prevent forest fires. The Swedish Timbersports team will give demos and the Swedish Forwarder Championships will be held alongside the Swedish Championship in Champs of Logging. Plus more demos in horse logging and a look back in time with veteran forest machines.
