POLY-BI makes the traditional polyolefins biodegradable
Italian company Enyax has developed an innovative product, called POLY-BI, that makes the biodegradation of polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene possible.
For years, Italian company Enyax has been committed to researching solutions that reduce the environmental impact of plastics. Now they’ve finally developed an innovative product that makes the biodegradation of polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene possible.
Enyax has identified a mixture of organic matter which can be used as an additive to biodegrade PE, PP and PS. The main impetus for biodegradation of polymeric materials containing POLY-BI is the formation of colonies, which form when bacteria autonomously passed from the planktonic state to organize bacterial structures. The concept behind POLY-BI biodegradation is the enzymatic catalysis made possible by our formula.
POLY-BI technology can be employed in traditional plastic manufacturing processes without making any changes. Extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulding, calendaring and rotational moulding systems stay the same and are compatible with using POLY-BI technology.
“This is a very interesting additive which gives customers the chance to add-on the biodegradation effect very easy to their existing product without compromising any of the other properties.
