    World Bioenergy 25-27 May:
    New torrefaction technology can help replace coal in power plants

    Coal was originally biomass, which was then transformed over millions of years into an extremely dry, energy-rich fuel. At the World Bioenergy conference and trade fair from 25-27 May in Jönköping, Sweden, the Swedish company Torkapparater AB will present their drying and torrefaction technology that transforms fresh biomass into a coal like substitute. The torrefaction process can also be used in other areas.

    Innovation at Elmia Recycling to Energy 2010
    Gasification gives lower emissions, fewer particulates and a broader feedstock base.

    A railway environmental problem and new combustion regulations encouraged the Swedish waste company IQR to develop new combustion technology. The result was lower emissions, a broader feedstock base and lower oil consumption. The new technology is being presented at the Elmia Recycling to Energy trade fair on 25-27 May in Jönköping, Sweden, held in conjunction with World Bioenergy.

    World Bioenergy 2010:
    A global window for a biofuel systems provider

    PetrokraftWorld Bioenergy 2008 was a key platform for the launch of Petrokraft’s biofuel system PETRO Compact Ecoflame System, or PCES. One important use of the system is to convert industrial oil furnaces to biofuel. Now the Swedish company, which is a leader in the field of combustion and control engineering, is hoping to strengthen its international focus at World Bioenergy 2010.
    “The trade fair is an interesting window on the world for us,” explains Sture Hansson, Petrokraft’s head of marketing and business development. “This time we have several current reference projects to exhibit. Satisfied customers are the best form of marketing.”

    World Bioenergy 2010:
    Green electricity from previously worthless wastewater

    New technology with big potential will be presented at World Bioenergy in Jönköping, Sweden on 25–27 May. The new product is a container filled with technology which uses the heat from 55 °C water to generate electricity. The unit is called the Opcon Powerbox and was developed by the Swedish firm of Opcon.
