Security

Safety relating to machinery and equipment.

The Swedish Work Environment Act (Arbetsmiljölagen Chapter 3, 8§) stipulates that machinery, equipment and other technical items must not constitute a hazard to public health when supplied for use. The same applies to machinery displayed for publicity or sale.
Machines that do not meet the stipulated safety requirements may still be displayed at trade fairs or similar events, providing that their failure to meet the stipulated requirements is made clear. Such machines must not be launched on the market or handed over for operational use until they meet the legal requirements.
If machines are demonstrated in operation at the fair, adequate safety precautions must be taken to avoid accidents.

Machine demonstrations

The regulations governing machine operation apply equally to demonstrations at trade fairs and the like, as to other usage. The following rules must therefore be observed:
- Any regulations governing the use of the machine must be followed.
- All operators of the machine must have the necessary knowledge and operating experience, and be of legal age.
- Appropriate safety barriers must be set up around the demonstration area.
- Machines that are running or positioned such that they constitute a risk of injury must never be left unattended.
