  • New contract for Elmia’s forestry fairs

    On the last day of SkogsElmia, the managements of Sandahlsbolagen and Elmia signed a new contract for future forestry fairs. The contract allows Elmia to arrange another four fairs on land belonging to Bratteborgs gård starting in 2013, when the next major forestry fair, Elmia Wood, will be held.

    Contractors came for the small machines

    That SkogsElmia on 26-28 May outside Jönköping, Sweden would be the biggest forestry fair in the Nordic region was expected. The surprise of the fair was that so many forest contractors were among the visitors.

    “This was my third forestry fair at Elmia and the best so far,” said Benny Granath, site manager for SP Maskiner. “During Thursday and Friday we had two hundred potential customers inside our stand every day.”

    World premiere of Ponsse’s twenty tonner

    The rumour is right. Ponsse will hold the world premiere of its new super-size forwarder, a twenty tonner, at SkogsElmia 26-28 May. “There’s a need for a forwarder in the largest category in Sweden, North America and Russia,” says marketing director Jarmo Vidgrén.

    SkogsElmia in Sweden will be the biggest forest trade fair in the world this year
    SkogsElmia, to be held on 26-28 May 2011 in Jönköping, Sweden will be the biggest forest trade fair in the world this year. The fair is expected to be just as big as the previous time it was held, in 2007, when it attracted 33 500 visitors and more than 300 exhibitors. SkogsElmia is a sister event to the international Elmia Wood fair which is held every four years. Both trade fairs take place in the same area, in the forests south of Jönköping. SkogsElmia is targeted at the Nordic market.

    Ruotsalainen SkogsElmia on vuoden suurin metsätapahtuma maailmassa
    Vuonna 2011 maailman mittavimmat metsämessut järjestetään Jönköpingissä Ruotsissa 26.-28. toukokuuta. Laajuudeltaan tulevan SkogsElmian odotetaan yltävän samaan  kuin edeltäjänsäkin vuonna 2007 jolloin kävijöitä oli 34 000 ja näytteilleasettajia yli 300. Suuri mielenkiinto johtuu siitä, että metsäraaka-aineella on valtava kysyntä niin teollisuuden taholta kuin bioenergiakäyttöönkin. –Näytteilleasettajina on entistä enemmän metsän ostaja, kertoo SkogsElmian projektivastaava Per Jonsson

  • New Swedish forest machine manufacturer to debut at SkogsElmia

    A completely new forest machine manufacturer is emerging in central Sweden: Green Wood Logistics AB. Forest contractor Torbjörn Ericsson has built a harvester, the T-Bear, completely from scratch, based on forest contractors’ needs and wishes. The result is a machine filled with innovations.

  • Ruotsalainen miljardien kruunujen metsäkoneteollisuus tukevalla kasvu-uralla
    Ympäristöystävällistä CTL (”cut to length”)-hakkuumenetelmää soveltavien  metsäkoneiden maailmanmarkkinat ovat nykyään arvoltaan noin 10 miljardia Ruotsin kruunua, ilmenee Skogforskin äskettäin laatimasta koosteesta. Yhdessä Suomen kanssa Ruotsi kuuluu nykyaikaisen metsäteknologian ykkösiin valmistuksen arvon noustessa 3,2 miljardiin kruunuun. Tähän tulee vielä lisätä laitteiden ja varusteiden arvo sekä ns. pienimuotoinen metsäteknologia, jonka liikevaihdon myös arvioidaan liikkuvan miljardeissa mm. Ruotsin Maatalousyliopiston SLU:n aikaisempien tutkimusten mukaan.

  • Forest machines – a billion-euro Swedish industry with a strong future

    The global market for forest machines that use the environmentally friendly cut to length (CTL) method is currently worth about one billion euros, according to new figures from the Swedish forestry research institute Skogforsk. Together with Finland, Sweden is a leader in the field of modern forest technology, with Swedish manufacturing in this sector worth about 330 million euros. On top of that is the value of equipment and accessories plus small-scale forest technology. These are also worth millions of euros, conclude studies by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and other research bodies.
