  • New contract for Elmia’s forestry fairs

    On the last day of SkogsElmia, the managements of Sandahlsbolagen and Elmia signed a new contract for future forestry fairs. The contract allows Elmia to arrange another four fairs on land belonging to Bratteborgs gård starting in 2013, when the next major forestry fair, Elmia Wood, will be held.

    Contractors came for the small machines

    That SkogsElmia on 26-28 May outside Jönköping, Sweden would be the biggest forestry fair in the Nordic region was expected. The surprise of the fair was that so many forest contractors were among the visitors.

    “This was my third forestry fair at Elmia and the best so far,” said Benny Granath, site manager for SP Maskiner. “During Thursday and Friday we had two hundred potential customers inside our stand every day.”

  • SkogsElmia – A paradise for mini-forwarders!

    Mini-forwarderSmall-scale technology is more prominent at SkogsElmia than at the global forestry fair Elmia Wood. For example, interest in mini-forwarders is growing, as is the number of manufacturers. By increasing the extraction of biomass, the mini-forwarder has become more useful even to professional foresters. On 26–28 May leading manufacturers of mini-forwarders will put their machines through their paces at SkogsElmia. Exhibitors include Alstor, Loglander, WoodTiger, Malwa, Vimek, Scorpion, Tim Bear, Novotny, Hjulhästen and Terri.

    A completely new forest machine manufacturer is emerging in central Sweden: Green Wood Logistics AB. Forest contractor Torbjörn Ericsson has built a harvester, the T-Bear, completely from scratch, based on forest contractors’ needs and wishes. The result is a machine filled with innovations.

  • Forest machines – a billion-euro Swedish industry with a strong future

    The global market for forest machines that use the environmentally friendly cut to length (CTL) method is currently worth about one billion euros, according to new figures from the Swedish forestry research institute Skogforsk. Together with Finland, Sweden is a leader in the field of modern forest technology, with Swedish manufacturing in this sector worth about 330 million euros. On top of that is the value of equipment and accessories plus small-scale forest technology. These are also worth millions of euros, conclude studies by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and other research bodies.
