Environment
Elmia’s environmental work has come a long way and is well beyond the levels required in most contexts. The facility has been awarded an environmental diploma by the Municipality of Jönköping and the demand specification is based on the ‘Gothenburg model’ currently used by many municipalities in Sweden. The requirements include extensive waste separation at source with many sorting stations for personnel, visiting exhibitors and event participants. In its endeavour to protect the environment in general and the unique sand banks surrounding Elmia’s green open space in particular, Elmia has removed just over 500 kg of CFCs from its cooling water system. They have been replaced with water from Lake Vättern which now circulates in a closed system. Elmia’s environmental work is an ongoing process which is continuously developing.
