A fair under continuous development

1974.   Elmia Arbetsmiljö (Working Environment) is held for the first time.
1998.

Collaboration with Stockholm International Fairs begins. The fair is now held every two years instead of every three.

2000.

The fair is organised alongside the security, fire and rescue expo Skydd at Stockholm International Fairs.

2002.

Elmia Arbetsmiljö (Working Environment) moves back to Jönköping. Held in parallel with the industry fairs Elmia Joining and Elmia Ytforum (focus: industrial coatings). Collaboration with Stockholm International Fairs continues.

2008.

“Work” – synonymous with the joy of work.
The fair undergoes a major important change ahead of Elmia Arbetsmiljö: Work 08. The crucial change is a shift in focus. Rather than concentrating on problems and ill health like before, the focus is now on quality of life, profitability and a long-term approach – essentially, the joy of work! The subtitle ‘Work’ is launched to mark the change.

The new motto is ‘Everything for a good working day’ with the guiding principles ‘Adjust’, ‘Prevent’, ‘Leadership’ and ‘Expertise’. ‘Work’ has become synonymous with a brand new approach to important working life issues.

2010. ‘Work’ is refined and developed further. Several new features in connection with the ‘Meeting-Point seminars’: the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions and the Swedish Agency for Government Employers collaborate with the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise to develop ‘Manager Meeting-Point’, which thereby encompasses both the private and public sectors. Our ‘Health & Safety Meeting-Point’ is strengthened through a collaboration between the Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO) and the Council for Negotiation and Co-operation (PTK), which means that representatives from the officials sector are also invited. Elmia Arbetsmiljö: Work 10 is organised alongside Elmia Motek, and Elmia Subcontractor’s major spring conference. A collaboration is also under way with the German fair A+A, an international trade fair in personal protection, security and health.
