The step feeder that simplifies wood processing and (more importantly) saves your back

At Elmia Wood 2009, visitors to the stand of Ingvar Persson AB found a back saviour for everyone who processes wood: a step feeder that brings the logs up to the work platform.

The Swedish firm of Ingvar Persson AB (IPAB) is one of the leading companies in the Nordic region in timber processing. The firm’s customers are primarily sawmills that require entire machine systems to process the timber. In contrast, the company’s new step feeder for logs is designed for one-man companies or private households that cut and split wood.
“Many people roll the logs into place and then lift them up to the wood processor,” says Per Salinder, product manager at IPAB. “But our step feeder makes this process easier. We’ve tested the market and found there is a great need for it.”

Safe and efficient

“It has a simple and sturdy construction,” Per says. “You load with a grapple from one side and then you can easily and safely move the wood up by yourself.”
The purpose behind the step feeder is both to reduce the risk of accidents when handling heavy logs and to make the work more efficient.
“Now you can actually do the work by yourself – and do it safely,” Per says.
As well as launching the step feeder the company also presented a range of accessories, including feeder rollers with or without hydraulics.
